Sarah has worked in schools for over 20 years, starting as a mathematics teacher. She was Assistant Headteacher at a large 11-16 school responsible for curriculum/timetable, IT and finance before joining South Axholme Academy in 2010 as Deputy Head. Sarah has experience of working in 4 Local Authority areas across the country. She has been Principal at South Axholme Academy for 3 years and Head of Trust for 2 years. Sarah is a LLE (Local Leader of Education) and Chair of the North Lincolnshire Secondary Heads and Principals group. She has been instrumental in promoting outreach work and peer support within her area, helping to set up the Peer to Peer review system now in place in North Lincolnshire.
Sarah holds the executive statutory board responsibilities for Safeguarding Children within the NHS; she is a registered nurse with a BSc and MSc. Sarah has had the experience of Ofsted Safeguarding and SEND inspections, she is passionate about education and the importance of every child fulfilling their true potential.
Sarah has experience of operating at board level including strategy, performance and finance. Within the NHS Sarah is the executive lead for Health and Safety and chair of the Health and Safety Group. She is also the executive lead for Human Resources and oversees senior appointments and employee related investigations. In addition, Sarah leads the Organisational Development for the NHS which includes, Training and Education where she has developed the strategy for the organisation to enable the necessary skills to deliver the ‘overarching strategy’.
Nicola has worked for the NHS for over 20 years, starting initially as a laboratory assistant and then following further study moved into the field of Human Resources initially as a Human Resources Advisor giving generic HR advice. Nicola progressed into a senior advisory role in the specialist field of Employee Relations. Nicola is about to move into a new role of HR Business Partner still within the NHS. She has a particular interest in coaching and mentoring which she utilises in her professional role and likewise governor responsibilities.
Stuart has worked as a Martial Arts instructor for over 30 years, teaching thousands of children, young people to adults the attributes of physical fitness, self-esteem and self-defence.
In 2001 he developed a business consultancy which was geared towards the fitness/martial arts industry, gaining much experience in business management and people development.
More recently Stuart owns and operates Epworth’s local taxi company again managing staff, drivers and employees, organising the day to day running of the business.
He has been a governor at Wroot Travis primary school for over 7 years, holding the positions of Chair, Vice Chair and Co-opted governor. His special responsibilities have been Data and Literacy and has developed a sound understanding in these areas.
Scott has worked in schools for over 20 years, starting as a Physical Education teacher. He was Subject Leader at a secondary school before joining South Axholme Academy in 2004. Scott has experience of working in 3 Local Authority areas across the country. He has been Associate Principal at South Axholme for 3 years. Scott is an SLE (Special Leader of Education) and has been a member of the Governing Body for 10 years. He has been key in promoting outreach work and support within his area, working recently for Pixl. Scott progressed from Subject Leader to Assistant Headteacher, Vice Principal and is now Associate Principal; he is overall responsible for Achievements and Standards.
Richard is a retired solicitor who had practiced in the local area for nearly 40 years. He still holds a practicing certificate ad acts as a consultant for a local firm. He has served on governing bodies during the 90’s and early 2000’s, both at primary and secondary schools. He has some insight into the education system as his wife is a Primary Headteacher.
A graduate in business and marketing, Marcus has 30 years’ experience working with schools and colleges throughout the UK. An old boy of South Axholme, he is now is now in his 4th term as a Governor. As a Managing Director, Marcus has in depth experience and knowledge of many issues affecting schools, such as finance and budgets, legal issues and HR, and his drive, dedication and attention to detail are well known throughout the school and governing body. Marcus’ particular interest as a Governor is Pupil Premium, and outside his business and education lives, he is a well known local musician, and music teacher.
Lisa has worked in schools for 14 years, as a science teacher. She was Assistant Subject Leader of Science at an 11-16 school in another local authority prior to joining South Axholme Academy. Lisa has been Subject Leader for 7 years with secondments to the senior leadership team.
Lisa is an SLE (Specialist Leader of Education) and has been instrumental in achieving outstanding science results at KS4 and KS5, placing the department in the top 10% in the country.
